Thematic school : "Ecosystem services provided by soils"

Since 2014, the "Laboratoire des Radio – Isotopes" (LRI) of the University of Antananarivo, the UMR Eco&sols of the IRD and its partners organize each year a thematic school on “Ecosystem services provided by soils. Soil conservation and restoration of degraded soils».

For 2019, the school will take place from 18 to 20 November in the videoconference room of  LRI (Andraisoro road, Antananarivo), Madagascar. The School is intended for students, researchers, teachers – researchers and participants from various central and regional institutions, technicians and NGO leaders involved in the soil theme.

The  School aims to transmit basic knowledge relate to soils, to edaphic processes (biological, physical, chemical) involved in the provision of ecosystem services including carbon sequestration and nutrient recycling and to share knowledge on the protection and rehabilitation of degraded soils.

The topics covered are:

1-  Soils and ecosystem services

2-  Main soil functions

3-  Soil conservation and restoration of degraded soils

The courses will be supplemented by practical work, site visits and ongoing experiments.

The number of places for the School is limited, applicants are asked to send a CV and a cover letter for the selection of participants. An Email is to be sent by October 31, 2019 to tovonarivo.rafolisy@ird.fr

Only successful applicants will be notified of the selection result and the School is free for all selected participants.
