Implementation and harmonization of the methodology for the characterization of soil C between network members, particulary for::

- The approaches used in the quantification of C storage in agroecosystems : "synchronic and diachronic" approach.

- Taking into account the different methods of measuring the bulk density when measuring C stocks and exploitation of old soil data,

- The use of new and innovative tools such as infrared spectrometry: increasingly used in recent years in soil science, infrared spectrometry (medium or near infra-red) is now proving to be a powerful tool to predict various properties of including soil and its physico-chemical characteristics. This is a very promising tool to quantify C storage by improving system but also to understand the mechanisms of sequestration. Several members of the network are recognized in the application of this approach to soil expertise, including soil carbon (Barthes et al, 2006. Brunet et al, 2007.)
